On June 5 and 6, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) hosted an Agriculture Trade and Investment Forum with the participation of about 200 agricultural producers, entrepreneurs, government officials, and investors to help them build market linkages, explore investment opportunities and learn new ways to finance agricultural production.
The opening ceremony took place on Tuesday, June 5, from 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. at Asanbay Center The forum featured an exhibition of agricultural products, roundtable discussions, business-to-business meetings, a photo gallery, and short videos during which the organizers demonstrated the results of the “Agro Horizon” project, the participant of which is “The First MicroFinance Company”.
To recap, “The First MicroFinance Company” and USAID Agro Horizon project launch innovative access to financial services in the regions: the project allocated a grant for the acquisition of 110 tablets and technical solutions to automate the lending process to clients of “The First MicroFinance Company”.
Loan processing automation will allow the rapid assessment of customers’ business on site, saving time and costs of farmers. Innovation was introduced in the company’s branches: in Osh and Naryn oblasts.
The positive experience of implementing this joint project will give a boost to raise the financial involvement of farmers in the country, as well as to the development of local agricultural producers.
